You know, even though many keep grumbling about the writers not giving us what we want, i.e. Buddie, even though I’m not a very patient person either and get frustrated with slow burn at times (but also love it), I do think we are getting somewhere and the pace is actually the right one (if frustrating).

1. This has not been planned. The chemistry has not been planned, it just happened, and then it took some time to figure out what to do with it and rearrange the whole thing. It takes time and effort and talent.

2. Many like to think that Buddie has not happened yet because they are, well… two guys. But I’ve loved many a het ship where it took about 6!!! or so seasons to get a leading couple together, even though they were perfectly straight. Purely because, I guess, the journey to people getting together is so fun (if occasionally frustrating) to watch. And to write, I suppose. Writing a happy couple and still keep it exciting takes much more effort.

3. Even if the slow burn is painful at times, there’s something to be said for delayed gratification.

4. The writers worked so hard to introduce Buck as a ‘stud’ 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ in season 1 (even though we all know that he’s just a love and affection starved puppy… and also a stud😉) with all those women at the beginning - when nobody could imagine that Eddie would come one day - so they can’t just jump into him being bisexual all of a sudden (Yeah, I know that irl it wouldn’t be a problem, you can live 30 years thinking you’re straight, and then BAM! this one person happens, and you are suddenly not… Speaking from personal experience here… But on the screen it wouldn’t work, I think).

All in all, I firmly believe that they are working up to it. Slowly, Yes, but the quality is so good, and I think it is actually freaking nice that the first canon bisexual ship on TV (at least, that I know of) is going to be so well written and nuanced.
